What I’m doing now

Updated: Dec 3, 2018

I’ve started a Community Blog at memoir.space

It is a space to leave a legacy by sharing life lessons, stories and thoughts.

Updated: June 28, 2018

FAMILY: Keona, our super adorable daughter is now 3 mo’s old and just learned how to roll over – from back to tummy.

WORK: Currently running campaigns for different initiatives with the goal of scheduling Lunch and Learn Seminars with targeted accounts. We start with email campaigns with CTA’s that point to our multiple landing pages with booking forms, then followed by telemarketing (direct calls).

AR & VR

This is seriously the future. Everyone in the AR/VR space is excited of Magicleap.

I started learning about Unity3d but realized that I need to be able to make 3d models. So I enrolled in this 3d Modelling course at Udemy. Wow, the learning curve is so steep!

Check out this short course about Augmented Reality I recently finished: Intro to AR and ARCore

My not-so short-term goal: develop an app that our Business Development team can use in their presentations to clients.

BOOKS I’m currently reading or listening to:

Ogilvy on Advertising, David Ogilvy (Kindle)
A super old book. I learned this from a podcast called “Seeking Wisdom” by the peeps at Drift.com

The Creative Curve: How to Develop the Right Idea, at the Right Time, Allen Gannett (Audible)
The author was a guest at “Seeking Wisdom” podcast the week he launched his book. I bought into what he was saying. Honestly, I don’t like the sound of his voice reading it.

Do the Work, Steven Pressfield (Audible)
Another suggestion from “Seeking Wisdom”. An awesome short book about doing the work and facing the enemy inside – “Resistance”!

PODCASTS I recently discovered and have become my favorites:

  • Growth Experts | Dennis Brown
  • Seeking Wisdom | David Cancel & David Gerhardt
  • Side Hustle School | Chris Guillebeau
  • The GaryVee Audio Experience | Gary Vee
  • Disrupt Yourself Podcast | Whitney Johnson
  • Masters of Scale | Reid Hoffman

FAMILY: My wife and I are preparing to welcome our baby girl into this world. Every weekend (almost) I take time-lapse videos of my wife’s ever-expanding tummy.

WORK: Juggling multiple marketing tasks: video production, websites/social media updates, photography & graphics design, email marketing, database management. I had to make my schedule in chunks to be more efficient with my time.

WRITING: Started a daily journal on Evernote just to develop the habit of writing my thoughts so that they don’t just drift and get lost in the tiny spaces of my mind.

WEBSITE: I’m helping out an England-based charity organization revamp their old website.

PIANO: I’ve gradually been practicing this piano piece for a long time now – more than a year. It’s from the movie ‘Pride & Prejudice’. I’ve completed the piece but needs a lot of mastery to be able to play at the right tempo.

CODING: I’ve actually started learning Python Program at Datacamp. My gut is telling me to start coding.

BOOKS I’m currently reading or listening to:

Conversations that Win the Complex Sale, Erik Peterson & Tim Riesterer (Audible)
This was a suggestion from a colleague in our BD group chat

Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action, Simon Sinek (Audible)
I’ve been a long time fan of Simon’s Ted Talk and finally decided to get his book

The Website Investor: The Guide to Buying an Online Website Business for Passive Income, Jeff Hunt (Kindle)
The author was hosting a weekend seminar in Dubai but I thought of just getting his book instead – much cheaper!

Side Hustle: From Idea to Income in 27 Days, Chris Guillebeau (Audible)
Amazon’s recommendation convinced me to get this one since I read his other book sometime back. Amazon’s cross-selling works!

How to Shoot Video that doesn’t Suck, Steve Stockman (Kindle)
It seems like my video skills have stalled a bit – I need some new insights.

How to Write Better Copy, Steve Harrison (real book)
Got this from a local bookstore. I’m obviously trying to improve my writing.

Show Your Work!, Austin Kleon (real book)
My wife bought this for me as I already finished the first one “Steal Like an Artist”.

PODCASTS I’m currently subscribed to:
